Field Engineer (Network Infrastructure)

SummaryThis role focuses on field operations, including physical infrastructure audits, vendor work inspections, and reporting to ensure compliance with network standards. The Engineer will collaborate closely with internal cross-functional teams, the network team, and external vendors such as data center providers, ISPs, and cabling partners.

Singapore-based engineers: Limited travel required; no vehicle ownership needed due to available public transport.

Malaysia/Jakarta-based engineers: Frequent travel between customer sites (40–50 km). A driving license and personal vehicle are preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular audits and reviews of service partners to ensure compliance with BD technical standards.
  • Supervise data hall build-outs, ensuring adherence to specifications and safety regulations.
  • Oversee ISP system commissioning and dark fiber deployment (manhole, MDF, riser, patch panel).
  • Perform dark fiber diversity route audits and monthly ISP route inspections.
  • Provide updates and remediation reports for network incidents (e.g., dark fiber cuts).
  • Manage vendor operations in live supercore network data halls.• Support hardware installations, moves, adds, and changes (IMAC).
  • Provide onsite support during scheduled maintenance/change events.
  • Troubleshoot IT and network-related equipment issues.
  • Manage inventory for RMAs, cold spares, and tools.
  • Handle vendor coordination, access requests, and site supervision.
  • Support POP site operations and standby duties.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly reports and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Diploma/Degree in Telecommunications, Cabling, Networking, or related technical field.
  • 2+ years’ experience in structured cabling or ISP/telecom installation (preferred).
  • Knowledge of fiber optic splicing, OTDR testing, or copper certification tools is an advantage.
  • Proficient with cabling tools (crimpers, punch-down tools, splicers, testers).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and metro connectivity technologies.
  • Good communication, coordination, and vendor management skills.
  • Independent learner with problem-solving abilities and systematic troubleshooting skills.
  • Physically fit for fieldwork; willingness to work in challenging outdoor conditions.
  • Valid driving license and own transport (preferred for MY/ID roles).


Soft Skills (for Senior Position):

  • Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers.
  • Team management and coordination skills.
  • Experience assisting supervisors in complex project delivery.
